Christmas day was very different this year, Chris spent the morning in our city's casualty. He has torn the rotator ligament and after steroid injections and now the mention of operations to unfreeze the shoulder and weeks in pain he is quite miserableand it has made the last month tough.
Right in the midst of this I was asked to review Thermacare HeatWraps, primarily for a feature about Mums and dads and the strain of carrying children etc. I felt that Chris had a real strain that made for a real honest review. I'm not pleased that Chris is in discomfort but it certainly made the HeatWraps go through their paces
I was sent a ThermaCare® HeatWraps Neck, Wrist and Shoulder £6.12 for a pack of three. What Chris liked firstly was it has given him a break from drug pain relief, he is on serious anti imflammatories and while that help, Chris is not much of a pill popper. He likes to try alternatives, while he sees the need for the tablets, the Thermacare Wraps have allowed him to control it for a few hours without this method, making the tablets more effective for the night time.
He commented on the actual comfort and fit, they moulded around his shoulder and down over his back to target the real hot spot of pain.
He felt real relief from the warming effect, he said it soothed the area, he did find he could not bear as many hours as the Thermacare can do. We both believe this is down to the injury being a tear more than an ache though.
I can see me using the Lower Back and Hip HeatWraps when I get my gardening back ache in spring. The cost of the wraps were great for the relief they provide and Chris would strongly recommend them but not ripping a ligament to try them perhaps!
ThermaCare® HeatWraps Knee and Elbow £6.12 for a pack of two
- Especially designed to fit your knee or elbow.
- Allows you to move freely while delivering therapeutic heat to tight muscles.
These will be used for Conor who as a runner and also suffered a ligament strain, can again use these instead of Ibuprofen.
· ThermaCare® HeatWraps Lower Back and Hip £6.12 for pack of two
- Wraps snugly around the affected area, providing targeted pain relief that penetrates deeply, warming the muscle right where it hurts.
- Applied directly to the skin****, allowing you to stay on the move.
ThermaCare® HeatWraps Neck, Wrist and Shoulder £6.12 for a pack of three
- Cleverly conform to your neck, shoulder or wrist.
- Thin enough to wear under clothes, flexible enough to wear on the move.
When it comes to carrying children the wraps again will come into their own, having twins I felt the strain often on my back and wish I had had these after a long day.
Thermacare sent me the below survey facts and results to share with you.

MUMS SPEND 2 MONTHS OF THE YEAR CARRYING THEIR KIDS
Almost half (48%) of mums who suffer aches and pains say lifting up their kids causes the most strain. This is not surprising after a new survey revealed one in five mums carry their kids around for four or more hours a day when they are young – this equates to a full two months spent carrying their child over a year!
One in 20 (5%) of the women, who were part of a survey of 3,000 men and women carried out by ThermaCare® HeatWraps, say their muscular or joint pain was initially caused as a direct result of pregnancy while 7% say lifting their child was the initial trigger.
The survey further revealed the impact muscular aches and pains have on everyday parenting activities with 22% finding the constant tidying up after their kids a strain, whilst 18% find bath time a back ache, and just over one in 10 (12%) say play time and pushing a pram leaves them aching.
More than one in ten (11.99%) parents say muscular or joint pain interrupts their time with their children on a daily basis, while one in five says it is a nuisance a few times a week.
ThermaCare® Lower Back and Hip HeatWraps are specifically designed to keep up with people who want to put back pain to one side and get on with the day, allowing you to keep on working or resting without restriction. The patented heat cell technology gives deep penetrative therapeutic relief, that lasts up to 16 hours* and is as effective as taking six ibuprofen tablets**.
