Getting Messy with Cillit Bang, Cornish Ginger Fairing biscuits - Recipes from Holly Bell - Mess from me!

I decided to make Cornish Ginger Fairing Biscuits for my final recipe in the Get Messy with Cillit Bang's New All in One Dish and Surface cleaner and Great British Bake Off Runner Up Holly Bell.
**Cillit Bang will also be giving five dispensers away after to readers.**
I got to grips with greasy frying pans when making the Carrot fritters see here and then had a pantastic cooking marathon making the mustardy Sausage and Chicken Piggy Pot Pies see here
I decided to make biscuits, these Cornish biscuits were rather easy compared to the other dishes and with a reminder of our favourite holiday destination, they made a nice start to the weekend.
I was kind of glad as the mess was not as greasy as the frying pan for the fritters and not so much to clean up as with the Pot Pie.

The pan was a bit greasy after combining the dough, my baking sheets are all handwash and Cillit Bang performed as well as I expected by now.

It was nice to dip my hands in the lather after rolling the biscuit dough.

The biscuits were amazingly quick and easy to make, from start to sitting down with a warm Cornish Fairing was about 20 minutes in all.

Rolling out sticky biscuits can be a headache but one pump of Cillit Bang All in 1 cleans your sides in a flash.

Ingredients
 4oz butter
6oz self raising flour
3 oz castor sugar
1 level tbsp golden syrup
1 level tsp ground ginger
1/2 level tsp bicarbonate of soda

Method
First preheat the oven to Gas Mark 5/190°C/375°F and line a couple of baking trays with greaseproof paper
Melt the butter and syrup in a saucepan
Once melted add the ginger, flour, sugar and bicarbonate and give it a good mix with a wooden spoon
Check it’s not too hot to handle. Here comes the fun bit…Form the warm Play Doh type mixture into balls about the size of large walnuts
Put them onto the lined baking trays and make sure there’s plenty of space for them to grow in the oven so you don’t get one large tray of biscuit
Put the baking trays in the oven for 12 – 15 minutes until the balls look biscuity
If you like your biscuits with a bit of ‘chew’ (more cookie like) take them out when only the sides are brown. If you like them crunchy then let the whole biscuit get a suntan
Let them cool on the baking tray for a few minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
