Hands up who leaves the pizza crust, well all my family do and I eat it as I love it so when Domino's asked me to try the new Stuffed Crust for me I was hoping it improved one of my favourite bits and for Chris and the kids that it stopped them wasting the nice bit.
We adore Domino's and it has recently opened another branch a few minutes away from my house and next to our local supermarket, meaning a lot more temptation when popping to the shop for a paper now!!
I was very happy to hear it the crust would be stuffed with mozzarella, garlic and herbs, it sounds a good filling, I have found the tomato fillings not as pleasurable and actually they make me leave a usually eaten crust. I was hoping though that the garlic would not overpower the main event of the pizza.
I invited another pizza fiend Ricky to share and sat down to one of the nicest parts of this blog, taste testing.
The thicker crust looks promising!
Our choice of pizzas the Mighty Meaty, as usual jam packed with meaty toppings.
The pizza arrived brought in by Chris on the way home from work and instead of diving in, Chris was keen to get us guessing how the crust is stuffed. It was agreed by us all that the cheese was piped in, not overly practically when you think about it.
Paige tucked in as Chris enlightened us, he said the base was laid down then three cheese tube shapes were laid around the edge, then the dough brought up over it and sealed. A much easier method than filling it piping bag style.
Well onto verdict, I liked the cheesy taste, I did like the garlic addition, it did not overpower the main event, but if given a choice I would go for just plain cheese and herbs as a flavour, garlic may not go with some of the topping choices, ie pineapple.
It was a lovely change for me though. Paige loved it, Conor who was in later said it made it miles better. Ricky said it was not much different from other companies but as I pointed out its not claiming to be different , just a new addition.
Chris said it was yum! That is high praise!
Oh and there was not a single piece of crust left, now that's a result in this house.
