Holdsworth Chocolates Union Jack Box

The chocolates above, are sitting in front of me, as I agreed to review them as part of my features celebrating all things British. Exquisite handmade chocolate maker Holdsworth Chocolates has launched a Union Jack chocolate box to mark the summer of celebrations in the UK.

Firstly the box is a bold Union Jack design, it will be a good memory of the upcoming Jubilee and the Olympics. The chocolates nestly proudly inside and the aroma of good chocolate and sweetness fills my nose as I take off the lid and peek inside.

Despite my many chocolate reviews, I still reach for savoury foods more often when thinking of snacking, chocolate is a love but it takes a lot for me to sit with a box of chocolates and want to devour the lot, partially because nut chocolates are not a favourite and I like more unusual centres.

So when I spied my favourite ever chocolate on the list of the Holdsworth Union Jack Collection, a Violet Cream, I had to open the box and take a look.
The 240g box features delicious quintessentially British-themed chocolates, such as clotted cream truffle, praline cup, and rose cream.

But then in the two layers, I saw the more unique centres, apple and geranium cream, lavender cream, ooh and sloe gin truffle and I'm afraid this box did not make it for any of the upcoming British events.

This box will make a lovely gift and a keepsake to maybe store other memories of this historic year.
Holdsworth Chocolates, which is based in the heart of the Peak District at Bakewell in Derbyshire, has a team of skilled chocolatiers led by creative director Genevieve Holdsworth.

Each chocolate is handmade – not just hand-finished – and a number have been awarded gold star rating in the Guild of Fine Food’s Great TasteAwards…the Oscars of the speciality food industry.

“HoldsworthChocolates’ Union Jack Box is a traditional British product, filled with chocolates that have been made in the heart of the UK using the finest ingredients,” said Genevieve Holdsworth.
