Sohie Ellis Bextor, Persil at Camp Bestival

Well not one to name drop but this weekend while at Camp Bestival I was having a chat with Sophie Ellis Bextor, don't you know?
The musical mum was launching a summer of ‘Getting Messy with Music’  with Persil at Camp Bestival.

Persil are encouraging families to come together this summer to make some noise and get messy with music.

To kick this off, the first ever ‘Mosh and Wash’ stand was launched on Saturday 28th July at Camp Bestival in Dorset.

So while the kids were getting very messy with paint and wowing the crowds with their musical talent as you can see, Persil were taking care of the washing for the Mums!  A very famous singer happy to help.

Within moments I could sense that this is a campaign that is very important to Sophie. She said that she believed that children all love music, and want to make sound, that as parents we can encourage them, even if it was banging saucepans with wooden spoons. Sophie said that Camp Bestival was the ideal place for children to have fun in a musical setting, its friendly peaceful atmosphere is a great place for families.

I asked about her three boys, while not divulging personal conversation, she did say her children loved music the same as all children and that they were actually with her at Camp Bestival so the family could have a wander around and have fun.

She asked me about my children and we discussed their love of listening to music, Paige playing the guitar and her boyfriend who is a musician too, Sophie said she first got into music, the idea of performing it anyway at 16 years old and when the band split, Sophie aged 20 was hooked and knew it was what she always wanted to do.

She had few words of advice for Ricky, she said "Hold onto the way you want your music to go, don't let anybody get in the way, but you will find, if they do it just gives you more determination!"

We talked for a good while about children, bringing them up and as someone who has always thought she was really nice, I was overwhelmed by just how truly lovely she is.

As for the Persil team well they valiantly washed and played, the band accompanied the children as they sang and the whole tent was singing, dancing and rocking out. Its such a fabulous campaign and I was very honoured to be a part of it.

People can be in with a chance of winning their very own festival and other prizes by simply uploading their rockstar videos and photos at www.facebook.com/persiluk

The main prize is pretty special and a lovely lady I met will be part of it. Sophie said that Persil will be recreating the stand on the winners street and she will be there to perform with them.

WOW!!

Disclosure : Persil paid for my camp Bestival tickets, accommodation and travel expenses, I was not paid to write this blog post and all opinions are my own.
