SHARWOOD’S BHUT JOLOKIA CURRY SAUCE Review

With a warning like this SHARWOOD’S NEW LIMITED EDITION BHUT JOLOKIA CURRY SAUCE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND I was up for the challenge but also a little apprehensive. First as is my want I need to digress a little..oh no I hear you say, here she goes again! Sorry Sharwood's will be back with you in a minute!

Chris, Paige, Conor and I eat hot spicy food a lot. I introduced curry to my two when babies and they have a passion for it now.

On a trip to last years Good Food Show we hit on a chilli sauce stand called KickAss Chilli sauces, now I eat hot stuff but was not game to try their most extreme sauce.
Chris was up for the challenge however, had some and gasped loved it... nutcase!
Then Paige said she was going to try a spoon, the guy on the stall said "Hmmm maybe not", this was the moment my quietly stubborn daughter decided to take on a stranger and go against them, unheard of before.

She took a spoon and dug in, as it hit her tongue, her eyes widened, then she went red, mottled almost, then started  to moan quietly and tug my arm, we moved, I  knew she was struggling and not wanting to be embarrassed.

As  we turned the corner she cried, then laughed and then cried, real tears of pain but laughter because she was game for it. She grabbed sour cream dip and yogurts at other stalls and was soon OK, she bought Chris a bottle for Fathers day so for us its a funny family memory.

Back to the present, this weekend I made the Sharwood's curry from a chilli said to be 400 times hotter than Tabasco! Does that sound scary? Well how about that " This rare chilli is sourced from the foothills of the Bhutan and measures over 1 million on the Scoville scale!!!!" Time for all  Dirty Sanchez fans to take on the challenge and I have a hubby who is a fully signed up member for daft fearless challenges. I balk at Vindaloo at times I have to be in the mood, Chris goes to the hottest curry a Phall named himself unbeaten by any curry or chilli pepper.

Sharwood’s is  actually challenging the British public to test its bravery and  turning up the heat by launching its hottest curry yet to tie in with ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s national fundraising initiative, The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry - with 10p for every jar sold will be donated to the charity.

Its very easy to make, just brown some chicken, add the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes and you are done. I took a sniff from  the jar just before adding to the meat and my eyes prickled, I knew it was going to be an inferno type curry.  So I prepared the below first aid accompaniments

Paige came in spied the jar, I had read the info before to her and said "No way, I'm having pasta and pesto!" My friend Nicola appeared just as I was dishing up and I said "Go on I dare you! maybe this was unfair when her curry palate ranges from Korma to erm Korma! She started to shriek "That's hot. God that's hot, get me a drink, QUICK!"

I poured out milk, she downed in one, then juice then grabbed a large tomato, apparently this works but did not last night!
Chris said "Oh yeah!" and grabbed his curry, I said Oh No and reached for the sour cream and smothered my portion.
It does with my chicken out toning down, taste good, its all heat though so if that's what you love, I recommend. Chris said It was tasty but too hot, he pretended bravery but he opened a beer as he went to the kitchen to tidy up and normally he opens one after!! Well the currymeister has been tamed!
Thanks Sharwood's it was a great experience.

Sharwood's  teamed up with The Soldiers' Charity to launch The Big Curry, the charity's flagship fundraising inititive that takes place during April, to raise funds for soldiers and veterans from all walks of life.

Money raised by the sale of the Bhut Jolokia curry sauce will be used to fund grants for individual soldiers and former soldiers, as well as specialist projects that help soldiers and their families, aiding their rehabilitation and long term welfare.
