Pure Beginnings at John Lewis

When I was asked to try the Pure Beginnings Bubble Bath I was immensely pleased, not having small children can be a  distinct disadvantage with some of the review products. I am not necessarily seen as the right category of blogger.

I have a range of 'littlies' that I call on for review purposes and my two are still young enough for a big bubble bath.
I do purchase children's bathing products anyway, I figure if they are kind to a child's skin, its going to be good for you too.

Plus they always have yummy fragrances another bonus.

Plus Pure Beginnings is sold now by John Lewis, that just tops the credentials.
It goes even up further in my estimation as its organic so good ingredients , then its fairtrade too.
What's wrong with it I am asking, absolutely nothing.

The packaging is gorgeous, clean white bottles with a retro design and a thoroughly cute owl.

The bubble bath itself gives a nice fluffy foam and a lovely citrus fragrance, after after my bath my skin smelt orangey and rose scented.
I know its for children but I will be buying it lots and it will be a great gift for all the little ones in my circle too.

Scarlett & Crimson‘s Double Trouble Concealer review

Why do spots attack just as you are about to go on an special night out or you are aiming to look really good. Paige and I were bemoaning this fact on her Prom night as on the morning, a huge spot (possibly seen as bigger by her eyes) appeared just as if to mock her attempts at perfection.

The same for me as I planned to go out just this weekend, there it landed silently smirking I'm sure.
Why can I not have other teen attributes, good skin, no lines, anything even the moods nope I just get the blimmin spots?
Scarlett and Crimson has been a favorite purchase one for the cute packaging it makes great Christmas presents. To be sent their newest launch Double Trouble in our house of twins seemed rather apt.

Created by beauty icons Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall, the full Scarlett and Crimson offers a range of 35 unique products which have been designed to celebrate self-expression, individuality, creativity and friendship.
Well with the spot outbreaks we can certainly do with the offered friendship!

Most  spot sufferers know that applying concealer onto active "blemishes" you will be spreading bacteria and then putting it back into the tube. However this clever little stick has one end with a blemish gel which keeps spots at bay.

The concealer is fast and easy to apply. I usually use the applicator to put a dot on my finger or concealer brush and apply that way, this is best done to avoid the spread of more spots.

Its a lovely thick liquid so it holds to the skin well, but is not so thick it does not spread or dries too powdery.

I was sent the medium shade, which is exactly as you would expect that shade to be. My tip is to apply, let it dry a minute or two then pat it on over the blemish you wish  to cover. By giving it a bit of time to dry it thickens just a bit and gives for a better coverage.

Top marks for a cute package, concealer that is really rather good in doing just that and the gel to zap those nasties on arrival.

Be confident in your own skin with Scarlett and Crimson!

Don’t freak-out when you break-out, Scarlett and Crimson‘s Double Trouble concealer will help you achieve flawless skin!
This handy concealer will help you fight the war on spots in two easy steps – first, treat problem areas with the blemish gel and then, once dry, apply a light coverage of concealer to hide imperfections.

So go on - conceal blemishes, not your individuality with Double Trouble, available in Superdrug for only £4.50.

Closed My All Grow’d Up Cup Review and Giveaway 49 Ends August 21st

As a mother of two Linzi Cracknell has so far seen one of her little angels through toddlerdom, She says  "The one request I remember above all others were those little tones screaming “Mum can I have a drink” at the most inconvenient of times like when driving or on the loo!"

But it was from these moments that the idea for My All Grow’d Up Cup™ was born.
It certainly was a moment of genius by Linzi!
Having twins I was forever running around filling beakers, not too bad in the house but you did have to watch where they ended up, spout down in the toy box was not a pleasant clean up to deal with and hurled to the floor when being mischievous in the car, then the caterwauling when said hurler realised you were not stopping to pick up the cup.

So the adorable sounding All Grow'd Up Cup is perfect for little ones to have a sense of independence in the shape of a cup and holder ,while you get that moment to nip to the loo or get to your destination.
The carrot in getting your child to put the cup in the holder and always know where it is, is in fact not a carrot but an elephant shaped cup.

Its set in a strong holder that affixes to the car window,(or the fridge, kitchen cupboard, bedroom door, or even your patio doors).  It has three super strong suction pads and I tried with full drinks and it holds fast

The innovative cup cleverly encourages children to take their own drink, return the beaker to the holder and always know where to go back to when they need another sip – because it is suckered to the fridge door or window! . To make it more fun, when they put it back, there’s an elephant noise to encourage them to use it again and again and again!

The cup is now completely dishwasher proof so it’s even easier to use and extremely simple to keep clean! Now even more parents can have one so that their little ones always have a drink on hand in the car, in the kitchen, and at grannies!

** Shortlisted for Practical Parenting awards feeding equipment £10 and over category and Loved by Parents awards best drinking cup.

    LUSH HAPPY FEET!

Feet well I tend to view mine with mild disgust, I am not a foot person, the thought of playing with toes and it being seen as erotic escapes me, I view that kind of behaviour more psychotic than erotic!
However I do like my feel to be pampered and look decent especially as the summer is here, despite weather forecast showing otherwise.
Lush have a lovely summer set to help get your tootsies treated.

Lush sent me the Volcano foot mask, I did do a double take when reading the ingredients...potatoes, I remember being asked if I'd washed my feet as a child otherwise I would have potatoes growing in my toes, well it seems I am getting them but in a nicer smelling and deeply pampering form!

It is a most soothing experience despite seeming a little odd as you smooth on the mask and wrap your feet in cling film for 15 minutes.
My feet were left feeling smooth, really moisturised and incredibly soft. They were definitely more summer ready.

GET THOSE HAP, HAP, HAPPY FEET!

Lush’s limited edition Knot Wrap gift set … Happy Feet  (£10.95)

Containing a selection of Lush foot pampering products to get your feet looking and feeling fabulous all over summer.

There’s our foot shaped, zesty Stepping Stone scrub containing lots of pumice and sea salt to slough away hard skin and cocoa butter to simultaneously soften; follow this with a slathering of the rich, moisturising and exceptionally minty Fairtrade Foundation accredited Fair Trade Foot Lotion (45g) – to soothe and soften tootsies; and for really troublesome feet, there’s the Volcano foot mask (45g), made from fresh organic potatoes, fresh organic papaya and kaolin for drawing and dissolving dirt, which is especially difficult to get to grips with on dry cracked skin, to really deep cleanse.
To use:  apply generously to clean feet, wrap each foot in cling film and leave for 5-10 mins.  Remove cling film, gently massage into feet and rinse with warm water.
We suggest re-using the scarf to carry all your lovely products, or as a fetching head scarf during the festival season … the options are endless!

PLUS If you really want to treat your feet, go to the LUSH SPA and book yourself in for the newest treatment - The Spell (£50.00 for a 60 minute foot treatment). This is an innovative and unusual treatment that draws on the healing powers of reflexology to not only help revive your feet, but all other areas of your body.

    Tightsplease Classic Collection Review

Tights Please are a favourite site of mine, from a classic tights and stockings, everyday wear tights to right on trend designer stockings they cater for every one of my fancies.
I reviewed the leg warmers a while back here also the very sexy Jonathan Aston Fishnet holdups reviewed here They continually update the site with new styles, always an offer or a bargain to be had and often a lovely competition.

This time I'm looking at the classic tights these are your everyday tights stockings and holdups, pairs you can wear to work, out shopping and just as easily on a night out.
Classic is a collection of quality branded hosiery and lingerie in simple, elegant styles and a broad range of sizes.
If you like to wear hosiery everyday, they've got some great ways to make you look good and feel great. Tightsplease hosiery is soft, comfortable and durable, but also good value for money. They've picked out a capsule collection of hosiery and underwear in a range of price points to suit all budgets.

Whats cool about ordering from Tights Please is the great delivery service.

Delivery to your home is £1.95 per order, but our special £3.50 one off payment will give you free delivery for a year. If you look after elderly relatives or friends, you can order their hosiery and lingerie too, and it will be delivered in small parcels that will fit through their letter box

I was sent the Charnos 24/7 Sheer Hold Ups 2 pair pack in a gorgeous shade of Champagne, at 15 denier they are lovely and sheer, perfect for keeping cool in summer and adding a lovely look to my still not sunkisssed (Where is the sun UK?) legs. The toes are reinforced which is often lacking in sheer hosiery, there's nothing worse than being ultra careful not to snag your sheer hold ups and then your toes go through the flimsy foot.

Charnos have always made high quality, durable and stylish tights and stockings at the best possible prices. Tights Please stock a good selection of many of their styles.
I found the sheer hold ups to last quite a bit longer than I expected, they are really sheer and natural looking. Two pairs cost £6.70 and if you are already on the free delivery offer a real bargain.

    Australian Bush Flower Essences Review

One of my little background history lessons for you, as you know I love to learn something new about the background of a product and share what I find with you. This one I hope is helpful in realising why I'm reviewing Australian Bush Flower Essences (ABFE).

Flower essences are herbal infusions made from the flowering part of the plant, which uniquely address emotional and mental aspects of wellness. The first 38 flower remedies were formulated by a British physician, Dr. Edward Bach, in the 1930's, although new remedies from other plant species are now available as you can see here.

I remember these were looked on with scepticism in the early 80's I was recommended after a bereavement to take a rescue remedy for grief and I found it had a definite restorative feeling to my emotional balance.
This complementary therapy is now seen alongside well known medicines in many pharmacies and supermarkets. Aromatherapy is recognised as having great healing and restorative powers.

There are many flower essences for as many different emotional challenges. The first step is to decide which mental and emotional issues are most important for your health and wellbeing.
Based on your choice, you then select the essence or essences which correspond with these issues, it is said its important that the essence matches the true core need not just a surface problem.

If well matched flower essences will help you to feel more alive and in touch with your goals, values, and creativity.

The Australian Aboriginals have always used flowers to heal emotions, as did the Ancient Egyptians. There is long history of flower essence usage in India, Asia and South America while, in the Middle Ages, their popularity across Europe was widespread.

The 12th century writer, composer and philosopher, Hildegard von Bingen and the 15th century physician, botanist and alchemist, Paracelsus, both recorded that they collected dew from flowering plants to treat health imbalances.

In the modern society, however, our needs are very different. Sexuality, communication and spirituality are, for many people, causes of acute emotional discomfort.

For this reason practitioners across the world are now integrating Australian essences into their therapies.
Flower essences give clarity to peoples’ lives and promote the courage to pursue goals and dreams. They help to develop a higher level of intuition, self esteem, spirituality, creativity and fun. The more the essences are used, the more people are likely to experience greater awareness and happiness in their life.
The lovely people at ABFE sent me the Space Clearing Skin and Mist spray, part of a  range of six essences in mist form with a base of pure botanicals and herbal extracts.
It is said to create sacred, safe and harmonious environments. Great for clearing tense situations and environments and restoring balance. It will enhance sacred space, clear negative and psychic energies
creates safe, harmonious environment and allows one to feel still and reflective.

I do not have any negative space at this moment but I found myself spraying a fine mist on my pillow and face and I felt easy and relaxed.

Australian Bush Flower Essences is the trading name of Bush Biotherapies Pty Ltd, which researches and produces flower essences for emotional health and wellbeing.
The business, founded, and run, by naturist Ian White BSc, ND, BM, a fifth generation Australian herbalist, is based in New South Wales, Australia.
    Flower Remedies are not new.
Australia is home to the world's oldest and widest range of healing flowers which, along with its relatively low pollution levels, makes it a rich source of natural healing products.
Ian White – Founder of Australian Bush Flower Essences
Ian grew up in the Australian bush where, as a young boy, his grandmother, like her mother before, used Australian plants and often would take him bush walking. From his grandmother, Ian learned much about the many healing plants and flowers, developing a profound respect for nature. From here, Ian went on to become a practitioner and a researcher of the rare remedial qualities of Australian native plants.

NEW Air Wick Odour Detect Review

Guests notice more than you think!

Since I read this survey, I've been wandering around sniffing,I'm sure the family think I've either got really bad sinuses or just as usual a little strange.
I hate to think people walk in and are met with nasty niffs. Having been in the position of going into a house and it reeking of the pet mutt, or nappies and wanting to leave sharpish, I would hate people to be experiencing the same in mine.

I have the tried and trusted just cleaning the house, I do believe if kitchens and bathroom are kept clean and fresh smelling, half the battle is won. But life, rotten veg and cooking odours assault my home all the time. So I have plug ins, stick ups and all other rudely termed fresheners!

The new Air Wick Odour Detect is rather clever it actually seeks out the whiff and zaps a spray into the air. Paige and I rather meanly tested the power near the smellier residents of our house namely her brother!!
It satisfyingly let out a spray when placed near him, shh don't tell him it lets a spray out when activated.

Seriously it is really good, I have just cooked a Moroccan Chicken casserole, and while pleasant when cooking and eating, a few hours later I would like the aroma of Ras el Hanout and tomatoes gone.

The Air Wick works well, oh and I forgot to mention the one I was sent to try has a lovely scent. Cool Linen and Lilac a real blossom filled spray.

New survey reveals that your friends and neighbours notice if your house smells and may judge you for it!

A new survey released today by Air Wick, for the launch of the NEW Air Wick Odour Detect™ air freshener, reveals that 79% of people notice unpleasant or distinctive odours in someone else’s home, that’s almost a whopping 4 out of 5 people! Picking up on the stink isn’t where it ends though, over half of the people surveyed (51%) admitted to judging a person’s cleanliness because of it.

The survey also revealed the following:
    ·        82% of people are embarrassed by bad odours in their home when guests are around with 43% of people revealing that their most embarrassing moment would be if their bathroom was left smelling less than fragrant.
    ·        66% had noticed unpleasant odours in their own house and 39% worried about how clean their house was as a result.
    ·        43% of people would apologise for unpleasant odours in their home when guests were over with a further 20% of people admitting that they couldn’t relax in their own home
    ·        76% of people surveyed noticed distinctive pet smells. The top three worst odours in the home voted for were: the kitchen bin, the bathroom after someone in the house has used it, the kitchen after you have cooked. 46% of people actually said that a smelly bin was their worst kitchen nightmare
    ·        82% of people said they felt happiest and most relaxed when their home smelt pleasant with 43% of people feeling most proud when their home smelt its best
NEW Air Wick Odour Detect™is the FIRST air freshener that uses odour sensor technology to automatically detect and overcome unpleasant odours, meaning you don’t have to worry about it!

Now you can be confident knowing that your home will always be welcoming and pleasurable for family and unexpected guests. So if your pet let’s off an unpleasant odour, your partner uses the bathroom or last night’s dinner smells linger longer than you would like, you don’t have to panic!
A result of 5 years of research and development, NEW Air Wick Odour Detect™ uses the same technology found in high end cars such as BMW and Mercedes. The Odour Detect can sense thousands of odours so you can be confident knowing this clever device is taking care of your home and making sure it always smells good.
A spokesperson for Air Wick said:‘As the statistics from the survey prove, it’s not just the look of our homes that is important, smell plays a vital role in how we feel in our own homes and other peoples. A huge 82% of people feel embarrassed by bad odours in their own home when guest are around, with over half saying they judge people because of it. Air Wick Odour Detect automatically detects smells so if you have become accustom to them or just don’t have time to maintain a pleasant smelling home, the product will overcome the whiffs for you so you don’t have to feel embarrassed or be judged because of it!’
NEW Air Wick Odour Detect™ Compact will be available to purchase from July 2011 at all major supermarkets, with the NEW Air Wick Odour Detect™ Max being available from August.

Air Wick Odour Detect™ is available at all major supermarkets

    Ecoforce Cleaning Products Review

I am not a fan of cleaning, I firmly believe life is too short. However as I hate dirt and chaos, I do have to partake of the task on a daily basis.
I have over the last few years been using greener products it seems right that the cloths we use should be reusable and indeed recycled, it may cost me time but it should not cost the planet too.

I have not cut up a t-shirt in a while to use as a duster but I do use the ones that companies make.

I was asked to try some of EcoForce's range, I do already use the brand so can tell you the ones I have used are good, particularly the dishmatic scourer seen above. I find this a boon as I like to wash my dishes and rinse. The washing up liquid is neatly stored in the handle and dispensed through the sponge, so less wastage. I like the non stick ones which are kind to my new pans.

The pegs were a new and most surprising  find for me.
Being recycled, I had this idea the plastic would be flimsy and may not hold the weight of say a double duvet cover or large bath sheet. On the contrary the pegs have a strong grip, the plastic is sturdy and the design does not mark the clothes as much.

They come in a packet of pegs or nicely stored in a peg basket.

The scourers I already use too, its a fact of life we always need a scourer whether it be for burnt on stains or for cleaning the cooker.
Its nice to know when you are buying something mundane you can actually do your bit for the planet by buying a recycled scourer, I know like me cleaning   but its good to to be at least doing your bit for the planet.

Dusters another of life's necessities this pack of 10 is great used wet or dry these though as well as polishing and dusting glass, mirrors, furniture, car interiors wood and shoes they don't contribute to landfill saves energy, allows crop land to be used for food production.

So you have had a look at what EcoForce are doing to help clean up the house and they have teamed with me to offer a chance for one of you to clean up with a nice prize. In fact a whole year of cleaning products. EcoForce green cleaning goodies worth £50
Keep an eye out for the competition coming soon.

EcoForce is an everyday, practical range of household products  made from recycled materials and comprises recycled kitchen sponges, scourers, cloths and dusters for all your green cleaning requirements, recycled pegs,  peg basket and clothes line for eco-friendly laundry drying and recycled food bag grips for storing left overs.

    EcoForce's award winning products do
not  compromise on quality or price and offer an ethical choice when it comes to buying household goods.   All products are made from at least 90% recycled  waste here in the UK.
Recycled products are just as good, if not better, than alternatives made from virgin materials yet don't harm the
    environment
    .

EcoForce is available in Sainsbury, Tesco, Morrisons, Oxfam, B and Q, Homebase and Ocado on line.
