Quick porridge? A few years ago there was no such thing, it was a saucepan with oats and milk simmering on the hob to give a satisfyingly warm start to the day, but a not so satisfying sticky pan soaking and then scraping and cleaning.
Then came along instant porridge in sachets, a quick whizz in the microwave or pan if you still want and you have your bowl of porridge in a few minutes.
My cupboard heaves with the Oatso Simple porridge range, we all love the taste, ease and lack of pan scrubbing that comes with eat sachet.
Just a bowl and spoon, I even have an Oatso Simple bowl which has the line to measure the amount of milk to use! It can't be any simpler really!!
Oh but it can!
Quaker Oat So Simple just got even simpler with the launch of delicious new Oat So Simple Porridge Pots.
Out now, new Quaker Oat So Simple Pots are the perfect breakfast on the go - no need to cook, just add hot water, stir, wait and enjoy! The quick and easy porridge is made with Quaker’s quality wholegrain oats and with skimmed milk powder for an authentic and creamy texture, providing a filling and wholesome breakfast.

Available in three popular flavours - Original, Golden Syrup and Apple & Blueberry – Quaker Oat So Simple Porridge Pots mean you can have a tasty breakfast to suit your mood and your schedule. Whether it’s at your desk or in your kitchen, it could not be easier to prepare – no need for a microwave, just add hot water, stir and wait 2 minutes.
Its simplicity in a pot, I just boiled the kettle, stirred, waited and ate, there is nothing to tell you it was 2 minutes and was faster than the cup of tea I made to have after.
While eating, I read the pot and its pretty surprising to see that this has a similar calorie count to that famous two week plan where cereal is eaten twice a day and as I'm on it at the moment (too many cheese and choc reviews) I have swapped a couple of bowls for Oatso Simple Porridge Pots!
Oh and there are two things that Quaker don't mention, one is the lazy person benefit and two the active on the go persons bonus!
For lazy me its the now defunct washing up bowl or needed dishwasher space. I can eat straight from the pot if I'm so inclined, just a spoon. How good!!
Secondly when Paige came home the day I received she did a little dance and said "Yes!! I can take a couple of the pots on my Duke of Edinburgh, full of energy and easy to eat, so light to carry too!"
With less than 215 Calories per pot and low in saturated fat, Quaker Oat So Simple Porridge Pots are a perfect choice for those seeking a quick and easy breakfast option.
“At Quaker, we have always believed in making food that is simple and satisfying using the finest quality wholegrain oats and our new no-cook Oat So Simple Porridge Pots are a wholesome and delicious way for you to enjoy breakfast on the go.” Hayley Stringfellow, Quaker Oats Marketing Director
Simple, quick and satisfying, without compromising on taste, new Quaker Oat So Simple Pots are the ideal wholesome breakfast - anytime and anywhere.
Quaker Oats has been milling its oats since 1899, so generations have grown up with a warm bowl of Quaker porridge for breakfast.
Containing no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, Quaker’s oats are milled in the heart of the beautiful Scottish countryside in Cupar, Fife. Here the Quaker experts kiln the oats for up to 3 hours to ensure they are milled to perfection. The result is a range of products from the traditional Quaker Oats and the microwavable Oat so Simple to the crunchy Oat Granola cereals and bars.
As well as being a tasty start to the day Quaker Oats is renowned for its health benefits. Oats contain a soluble fibre called beta glucan which helps soak up cholesterol. Reducing cholesterol can help maintain a healthy heart.
