SUPPORT TUSK THIS CHRISTMAS WITH INKERMAN’S STUNNING AFRICA-INSPIRED CRYSTAL & SILVER COLLECTION

I love this kind of gift, it has a beauty that will please a loved one and also helps a worthy charity

For the past 20 years, the charity, TUSK whose Patron is HRH Prince William, has raised over £12m for the funding and initiation of conservation and community development programmes across the whole of Africa.

To commemorate the charity’s 20th anniversary and to help raise further funds, Louise Eadie, a member of TUSK’s Appeal Committee and Joint MD of the UK’s leading gift design company, Inkerman www.inkerman.co.uk offered to design an exclusive collection of silver and crystal pieces for the charity.

Inspired by the people and wildlife of Africa, the three beautifully crafted collections – Ndovu (Elephant), Kifaru (Rhinoceros), and Maasai, have been designed and manufactured in Britain and Inkerman have pledged 25% of sales to TUSK for every item sold.

Inkerman’s hallmark clear crystal fruit bowls and vases, which are all hand-made by British craftsmen using traditional techniques and the highest quality crystal, are also produced in dramatic ebony and in-filled individually by hand with silver leaf images to create an eye-catching contrast. In addition, all the pieces can be personalised with etched or engraved initials, handwritten messages, dates or logos.

Eadie (one of the two founders of Inkerman) became involved with TUSK when she was asked by family friend and TUSK founder, Charles Mayhew MBE to sit on the Appeals Committee. She has seen the Trust’s work at first hand and this was the inspiration behind new TUSK Gift range. Eadie explains:

“One of the biggest problems of all wildlife conservation is getting the balance right between the local communities and the wildlife that surrounds them and TUSK has addressed that and a number of other issues.”

The NDOVU Collection: Swahili for Elephant, this beautiful collection of ebony and clear crystal vases and bowls pays tribute to TUSK’s efforts to protect Africa’s largest animal. The rims of the black crystal Ndovu bowl and tapered Ndovu vase have been etched and in-filled with elephants in silver leaf to create a stunning contrast while the rims of the clear crystal Ndovu Fruit Bowl (in two sizes) have been intricately etched with elephants. Clear crystal bowls: £35 (13cm) and £65 (23cm); ebony vase £115, bowl £200.

The KIFARU Collection: Swahili for Rhinoceros, this two-piece collection features Inkerman’s ebony crystal tapered vase and bowl etched and in-filled with a silver leaf rhinoceros to recognise the ongoing plight of one of Africa’s most endangered species. Ebony crystal vase £105, Bowl £165.

The MAASAI Collection: the Maasai are one of the most iconic East African tribes with whom TUSK has worked extensively. This silver Collection features Inkerman’s hallmark Alms Dish in two sizes and their unique silver plate/sterling silver photograph frames each meticulously engraved with two figures of Maasai tribesmen. Photo frames £25 (silver plate) and £165 (sterling silver); Alms dishes £110 (6” silver plate) and £150 (4” sterling silver).

TUSK www.tusk.org has been supporting wildlife conservation, communities, and environmental education in Africa since 1990. Its current portfolio of 40 projects spread across 17 countries is designed not only to deliver protection for endangered species, but also to help alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development amongst the rural communities who live alongside wildlife. Since its formation in 1990 by Charles Mayhew MBE, TUSK has earned a reputation for being non-bureaucratic and for maximising donor funds reaching the field. The charity has supported more than 100 projects and invested over £12 million into the field. In 2005 HRH Prince William of Wales became the organisation’s Royal Patron.
