I am reviewing the EasiYo Ice Cream Mixes and happily so,after my previous experience of the EasiYo Yogurt maker and mixes. These are really good and its so simple to have fresh yogurt in your fridge every day. Read my review just here
Now they are making ice cream mixes that are simple, tasty and good for you.
You can create your own delicious and creamy ice creams that have less than 3% fat. I checked the calories and a good sized 250 ml portion is 167 kcals.
As you would expect from EasiYo, the ice cream mix has the added health benefit of lactobacillus acidophilus cultures in each spoonful, producing bacteria thought to have beneficial effects on digestion and overall health.
I tried the chocolate flavour and it came with a EasiYo Delight Ice Cream Container. Its a two stage process but really easy.
I added 400ml of cold water to the tub, sprinkled on the sachet contents, mixed thoroughly and then froze with the lid on. You can store the mixture like this until you are ready to use. A picture of the first stage so you know what to expect.
It looks quite a small amount but after freezing and the next stage it more than triples.
Once frozen, I did this overnight, I then removed the lid and was instructed to either microwave for 1-2 minutes or leave to soften naturally. I chose the microwave, I was starting to get rather hungry!! It needs to be a sorbet consistency but not liquid.
Then I broke up the pieces like so.
Making sure all the corners were broken too, then I beat with an electric beater for 5 minutes and its incredible to watch the mixture just bulk up with nothing but the beating action.
It looks way lighter than the first stage. I was tempted to sit down with a bowl right now, but I persevered.
I returned to the freezer and it was ready in about 20 minutes, but I like hard ice cream so I left all day.
It still looked light but once I drove my scoop in it was a good chocolate colour.
So the taste, its good, creamy smooth, sweet and what you possibly want to hear, its chocolaty too. A hit with the kids.
I really enjoyed the experience too, there is something very satisfying about making up your own ice cream.
Let your imagination run wild and create your own delicious flavour by adding chocolate, nuts, dried fruit, cookies or your favourite sauce. The ice cream kit comes with a recipe container, a vanilla flavour sachet, a chocolate flavour sachet and a recipe book to help you on your way, which includes mouthwatering recipes such as Vanilla and Berry ice cream cake, Caribbean Coconut Ice and Rocky Road
