Hearts of Palm

Well it wasn't the usual can of Jolly Green Giant sweetcorn that arrived in my house, nope, it was a can of the Hearts of Palm.

I for one have never heard of them. I thought I knew most veg, we often play an alphabet game and name different vegetables and this one never has cropped up. It looks a little like the white part of a leek.  I have not had the chance to try them just yet the brand are anxious to share with you this crunchy, creamy new salad addition and I will add my thoughts when I do try.

I will be following the tasty sounding recipe that Green Giant sent me, sounds rather tasty.

Heart of Palm is the crunchy-creamy growing terminal bud from which all the new palm tree leaves will grow. The palm plant reaches a height of 6 to 9 feet and can be harvested for years, some trees are over 20 years old. Green Giant™

Hearts of Palm are harvested from 100% cultivated palm so the forest is not destroyed in the process. Green Giant™ Hearts of Palm are so easy to use.
