BIRTHDAY PARTIES PROVE TOO STRESSFUL FOR PARENTS

New research has revealed that a quarter of parents think that organising a children’s birthday party causes huge levels of stress.[1]

The findings by Spur Steak & Grill also reveal that 85% of people think that parents spend too much money on parties to celebrate their child’s birthday.

"I’m not surprised at all by these findings,” says Pierre Van Tonder, Group Managing Director of Spur Corporation. “Parents face a host of challenges in pulling off a successful birthday party for their children, from sorting the food, entertainment and birthday cake to managing the expectations of the child and their friends. It can prove to be very expensive too.”

The research revealed that:

Just 5% of parents don’t find organising a child’s birthday party stressful.[2]

93% of the general public think that birthday celebrations have changed considerably since they were children.

More than three quarters (78%) believe that children’s expectations today are greater than when they themselves were young.

Apprehensive parents will be happy to hear that Spur Steak & Grill offers the perfect birthday party package. From the very beginning everything is covered — parents can download themed invites and even thank you cards from the Spur website. A child’s Birthday Party Combo Meal includes a Main Meal, bottomless soda and dessert, and it only costs £6.95 per child. If there are eight or more children, the birthday girl or boy will receive a free birthday cake.

“And the cherry on the cake is that there’s no cleaning up afterwards!” continues Pierre. “Families are at the heart of Spur Steak & Grill and we’re committed to doing everything we can to make it a special day for the birthday boy or girl, and a stress-free experience for Mum and Dad. There are loads of fun activities for the children, from a Modular Play Area to computer games and colouring-in activities. There will also be plenty of balloons so each child can take one home. What’s more, our young patrons will receive a free Spur Lucky Packet with every Kids’ Meal ordered, any day, any time! With everything taken care of, parents can sit back and enjoy celebrating the special occasion.”
