Make More of Beans and Peas

Make More of Beans and Peas is a part one of the series Make More of Vegetables.

I love peas .....there I said it!
Seriously its not a great confession but if you read my review of veg by James McIntosh here you would of read that as a child I refused all manner of greens and anything I believed to be a vegetable got added to my banned list also. A school friend told me baked beans were veggies and I stopped eating them instantly. I must have been a nightmare to provide meals for as onions were on the list too.
I was challenged about this when a teenager and thankfully started to try the odd veg accompaniment with meals. Peas were my first love and I am still loyal now.

The Make More of Beans and Peas is actually great for somebody who is  wary of change and fab for foodies who want to try new dishes.
Sugar Snap Peas with Egg and Lemon sauce, Casserole of Pork and Mixed Beans, Runner Bean Chutney are the dishes that I spot first. Then I alight on Runner Bean au gratin and a favourite Thai Green Curry.
The book is not just about the consuming, but the getting the little green delights onto the plate and there is a good section on propagating and growing also.

**You can win this book and its partner along with veg by James McIntosh stay tuned. For a fab deal to buy both £8.99 books for £10 see below **
The series contains horticultural advice and recipes for growing and cooking your own vegetables: this book focuses on beans, pulses and peas.

This book is simple, fun, interesting and straightforward. It puts vegetables right at the heart of food, from growing them to cooking them, to provide fabulously tasty and interesting vegetable-based dishes for all the family.

The second book in the series, Make More of Squashes, is also available now. Read about it in my review here
