Jala Super Juice

I was asked to review Jala Super Juice which launched this summer in the UK, its a new pomegranate drink, which is believed by some  to be the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden.

Being the curious one (Chris calls it beaky) I wanted to find out more about the country and the drink than just taste it.

So its your Jo's guide to Super Juice.

It comes from Azerbaijan.
Based at the crossroads between Western Asia and Eastern Europe, Azerbaijan is best known for its oil and gas rich lands but has a long and treasured history of cultivating pomegranates, where they have grown naturally in the mountains of the Caspian for thousands of years.

Its actually the country's leading juice brand is organic and certified as such there, will be here too after our stringent tests.

OK before taste any health benefits?

Yes indeed!

Pomegranate juice could help lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol helping to prevent heart disease. Pomegranate juice may have become all the rage in recent times, but folk in the Caucasus Mountains of Azerbaijan have been reaping its health benefits and enjoying its unique flavour for millennia. Now, after years of keeping the fruit they call ‘The Red Jewel’ to themselves, the country’s pomegranate growers are sharing their natural treasure with the UK as Azerbaijan’s leading juice brand ‘Jala Super Juice’ arrives in Wholefoods, Planet Organic and Ocado.

High in folic acid, essential for a healthy pregnancy or for those wanting to conceive.

High in vitamins A, C and E - all three key antioxidants, which could help to reduce the risk of several different types of cancer, including prostate cancer and skin cancer, and help to reduce the risk of heart disease.
Pomegranate juice contains almost three times as many antioxidants as the same quantity of red wine or green tea.

These antioxidants could also help prevent premature ageing and the appearance of dull, patchy and wrinkled skin.

Pomegranate has anti-bacterial properties and is believed to prevent the build up of plaque on teeth.

Ok the drink itself.
I tried the Pomegranate with a squeeze of orange
It smells gorgeous the minute you unscrew the cap.
It needs a good shake, I poured at first without a good shake and it was not as good as when I did.
Its sweet, very citrusy, loving the orange and pomegranate, I have never had the two together. So refreshing, I had this mid  evening and felt very alert and more awake than before.
I would like a stronger fruit taste in this variety.

The Pomegranate with a splash of Strawberry is sweeter, a lighter taste. This was the rest of  the family's favourite.
I preferred the sharper drink.
All of Jala Juice’s products contain no additives, preservatives, sweeteners or colours.

Bathed by the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s climate of cold winters and hot dry summers coupled with the age old expertise of ‘Azeri’ growers, ensures that the country’s pomegranates are unrivalled in terms of taste and quality. The ruby fruit is a national obsession with pomegranate festivals taking place in October throughout the country.
Used extensively by Azeris in soups, stews, sauces and salads, the sweetest, most prized pomegranates are made into refreshing, health boosting drinks.

Jala Super Juice, the best selling juice drink in a nation precious about their pomegranates, arrives in three exciting flavour combinations including pomegranate with a burst of raspberry, pomegranate with a squeeze of orange and pomegranate with a splash of strawberry.

Organic certified in Azerbaijan and currently applying for UK certification with the soil association, Jala Super Juice is available in 1tr cartons priced £1.29 - £1.99.
